Traffic Engineering is a Division of the Transportation and Development Department. Traffic Engineering is responsible for the following duties:
- Designing, installing and maintains all traffic signals
- Maintaining and installing road signs and roadway marking
- Conducting traffic studies for transportation planning and operation enhancements
- Performing traffic accident and traffic volume analyses
- Operating and maintaining an advanced traffic management center
Signing and Marking
The Signing and Marking Section of the Traffic Engineering Division maintains over 26,000 signs and 338 miles of pavement markings across Clayton County (Bobby Lee – Civil Engineer).
Traffic Signals
The Traffic Signals Section of the Traffic Engineering Division maintains a wide array of signal equipment, including:
- 264 traffic signals
- 225 safety flashers
- 141 traffic cameras
