The Clayton County Library System‘s mission is to contribute to the success of the citizens of our diverse community by offering a full range of library services that meet their informational, educational and leisure interests, fostering the love of reading in our youth and the lifelong pursuit of knowledge for all.

The Library System is comprised of six branch library locations: Headquarters (865 Battle Creek Road, Jonesboro), Forest ParkLovejoy, Northwest, Morrow and Riverdale.

Between the six branches, the Library System owns nearly 400,000 books, magazines and journals combined. CCLS holdings also include over 7,500 audio tapes and CDs and over 5,000 videos. Library cards are free for county and state residents. A Clayton County issued library card also entitles card holders to a range of free services including access to:

  • GALILEO – Georgia’s virtual library. GALILEO is a state-wide project sponsored by the University System of Georgia, and provides access to over 100 databases for researchers and students.
  • Electronic subscriptions to a variety of online resources that provide: Tutoring help, online test preparation, business research tools as well as articles and electronic reference tools on a wide variety of subjects designed to foster intellectual curiosity and personal growth for our diverse community.
  • Approximately 120 public internet access computers with word processing capabilities for use by the general public.

The Clayton County Library System also sponsors a diverse range of community events throughout the year designed to educate, inform and delight all ages. This includes a host of recurring children’s and family activities such as the popular story times for pre-schoolers.

The Library System also offers numerous public services to the community such as multi-purpose meeting rooms for non-profit organizations, voter registration forms and adult literacy referrals.

The Clayton County Library System is a proud participant in PINES, the public library automation and lending network for 252 libraries in 123 counties in Georgia (as of November 2006). The goal of PINES is to create equality of access to materials for all Georgians.
