Tara Blvd Livable Community Initiative (LCI) Study

The Board of Commissioners adopted the Tara Blvd Gateway LCI on July 16, 2024.  It’s designed to reimagine Tara Blvd from I-75 through the City of Jonesboro and terminates at the City of Lovejoy. It includes recommendations for pedestrian safety along the corridor and access improvements to existing and planned bus routes. See link to the Adopted study below.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Clayton County Community Development Department is having a system update. Online services will remain available during this time.

The update will require users to reestablish their account in the system. The update will also include fee changes from 2.5% to 3.95% with a $6.95 minimum fee for credit cards and $1.95 for e-checks, effective October 2, 2023.

NOTICE OF FUTURE LAND USE MAP AMENDMENT CHANGE

On March 19, 2024, The Board of Commissioner (BOC) approved Ordinance No. 2024-60: BOC-2402-0394 to amend Appendix A, Article 13, Section 13.3 – Zoning Amendment Process and Section 13.5 – Applications for Amendments. This BOC approval means that applications submitted to amend the Clayton County’s Future Land Use Map (FLUM) may no longer be submitted for consideration at any time within a calendar year. Now, the New Regulations require the submittal of FLUM applications to ONLY twice a year during the months of April and October.  This new process will start with the BOC public hearing on October 15, 2024, at the regularly scheduled BOC public hearing per the 2024 Zoning Matters Calendar.

NOTICE OF ZONING SIGN POSTING CHANGE

Starting with the June 2024 Zoning Public Hearings, applicants shall post the required number of Public Notification Sign(s) per the Zoning Calendar by May 8, 2024.

The Future Focus Clayton Comprehensive Plan draft document and guidebook are available for Clayton County’s residents to review and provide feedback. We invite all comments and input on the vision and goals, future land use map, and community work program, as well as any other concerns important to the people of Clayton County. Due to the recent health crisis of COVID-19, Zoning Matters will be conducted via in-person public hearings as in prior format.  Measures will be in place for social distancing.  The public is also invited to view the Board of Commissioners Meetings via live stream on the Clayton County website (www.claytoncountyga.gov).

Mission and Vision

The Community Development Department’s mission is to promote citizen participation to attain the highest quality of life; improve and sustain the quality of the built environment that attracts business investments in the county and enforce County codes to promote the health, safety and welfare of citizens of Clayton County.

Community Development Department is a premier department; responsible for interpreting and implementing ordinances/codes that shape Clayton County’s built environment. By the nature of our responsibilities, we enforce regulations that promote economic development; regulate licensure for businesses; administer housing and urban development grants; spatially manage the county’s land resources and enforce building codes to protect the life, safety and welfare of Clayton County citizens and patrons within the context of the overall County vision.
