First Sergeant Edith B. Murphy

First Sergeant Edith B. Murphy entered the U. S. Army from Detroit, Michigan on December 11, 1975.

Her assignments have included Recovery Vehicle Operator 76th HEM Company, Ft. Know, Kentucky; Recovery Vehicle Operator and Senior Vehicle Driver Company D, HQ command, 193rd Infantry Brigade, Ft. Davis, Canal Zone; Medical Records Specialist USA Medical Dep, Ft. Clayton, Canal Zone; Recovery Vehicle Operator Company A 724th Maintenance Battalion, Ft. Stewart, Georgia; Senior Recovery Vehicle and Training NCO, B Co 703rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Germany; Instructor HHC 2nd Battalion School Brigade, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland; Senior Recovery Specialist MSCK Korea; RCS NCOIC Ft. Carson , Colorado; NCOIC Support Operations; HHD 704th Ft. Carson 1SG D Co.; 704th Ft. Carson, Camp Henry, Korea NCOIC Support Operations; Acting Sergeant Major 43rd ASG, Ft. Carson, Colorado.

Sergeant Murphy awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal with five (5) Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Award 7th Award; National Defense Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2 Device; Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 4 Device.

After retiring worked at 2 hospitals in Penrose and St. Francis in Colorado Springs, Colorado as in Instrument Tech.  Lived in Columbus, GA.  Opened a retail shop and worked as a roaming vendor.

She works in her community works with Joseph Warehouse; worked as a minister of Help Usher; a volunteer for Summer Camp Vocational Bible Study; worked with Veterans Organized Clayton; worked with Help the Homeless; worked with AJ Well; worked with Alzheimer patients and work with the Ladybugs, who are a phenomenal group of women.

Moved to Hampton, GA. in 2007.  Sergeant Murphy and her husband, SFC Roy C. Murphy have 4 children.  Chante graduated from Kent State University and works at a law firm in Atlanta; Carlos has been to Afghanistan three (3) times, Iraq and Kuwait and now works in Griffin as a Director of Welding.  The Murphys will retire in FLA.
