Clayton County Senior Services November Veteran of the Month
Yeoman-Seaman Shontell N. Saunders-Murphy was born and raised in Detroit, MI. Shontell joined the U.S. Navy in 1993 and received an honorable discharge in 1995. Unfortunately, Shontell was forced to end her military career prematurely when her newborn daughter was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Beta Thalassemia. Since Shontell was a single mom at the time, she was forced to make the decision to be honorably discharged to educate herself about her daughter’s diagnosis.
Public Notice 2024 Funding Application Availability Workshops
The Clayton County Office of Grants Administration will be hosting its 2024 Application Workshops for the County’s HUD-funded grant initiatives, which includes the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs and Home Investment Partnership (HOME).

Launch of the inaugural episode features the overarching topic of the county’s Strategic Plan with hostess Communications Administration Valerie L. Fuller and Chief Operations Officer Detrick Stanford.
“We are constantly looking for ways to better engage and connect with our current and potential residents, businesses, communities, and partners,” said Chief Operations Officer Detrick Stanford. “Our Clayton Connected Podcast is another way to provide options for our diverse audience, improve our communications brand and image, while sharing important information, highlights, and facts. Anyone who desires can learn more about government operations, programs, services, events, and all the wonderful things to enjoy in Clayton County, where the world lands and opportunities take off, at their leisure.”
