Changes in the scheduling of any of the above meetings or notifications of Special Called Meetings or Work Sessions will be posted at least 24 hours in advance. All meetings and pre-meetings are open to the public, except for those occasions involving matters that are specifically exempt by the Georgia Open Meetings Law.

Hazardous Materials Awareness (GA300-HM)

The target audience for this course is personnel with awareness-level hazardous materials or weapons of mass destruction responsibilities in their jurisdiction Overview The Hazardous Materials Awareness (8 hour) course provides attendees from all backgrounds with knowledge and practical experience in essential, awareness-level hazardous materials competencies as defined by NFPA 472: Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents, NFPA 704: Standard System for the Identification of Hazards of Materials Emergency Response.  It also meets the requirements identified in HAZWOPER standard (29CFR1910.120(q)(6)(i) and the Georgia Firefighters Standards & Training requirements for Awareness level responders. The Hazardous Materials Awareness course provides students with training to proficiency in identifying hazardous materials; utilizing the U.S. Department of Transportation’s 2020 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) to identify hazardous materials risks and protective actions, utilizing hazard communication documents to identify hazardous materials risks and protective actions, and determining awareness-level personnel and public protective actions.
