FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Books Not Bullets Literacy Initiative Solicitor-General Charles Brooks and Dr. Deatrice Haney Continue Partnership to end School Violence  (Jonesboro, GA) Clayton County Solicitor-General, Charles A. Brooks, is pleased to announce a new campaign to end school gun violence in partnership with Clayton County Public Schools Board of Education member, Dr. Deatrice “Dee” Haney, (District 5).  The campaign is a literacy initiative titled “Books not Bullets: Books not Violence” open to all Clayton County Public Schools second graders.  This new reading initiative is designed as a competition among all second-grade classes in Clayton County Public Schools to read as many books as possible between November 7, 2022 and January 6, 2022.  The winning class will be announced on January 27, 2022 and awarded a class set of Amazon Kids Kindle reader tablets with a 1-year subscription to download additional books for their reading pleasure.  “The goal of this competition is to equip our young readers with the greatest ammunition on earth, more powerful than any bullet, knowledge.  The adage knowledge is power is more than a cliché and if we are able to ignite a thirst for knowledge early on with our young readers and spark their imaginations […]

For Immediate Release December 2, 2022 NEWS RELEASE Clayton to Host One-Stop Event for Emergency Rental Assistance   (Clayton County, GA)-The Clayton County Board of Commissioners host a three-day, one stop Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) event to help prevent evictions, December 5, 2022, from 12 – 6 PM and December 6 – 7, 2022, from 10 AM – 6 PM, at the Morrow Center, 1180 Southlake Circle, Suite 100, Morrow, GA 30260. The goal is to expedite the distribution of $6.5 million reallocated in ERAP 2 funds by the end of December 2022.  The funding is available to eligible Clayton County residents affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) three-day, one-stop event, which accommodates residents and landlords who need rental and utility assistance, expedites the pre-qualification process, offers assistance to complete an application, and assists applicants with scanning and uploading the required documents onsite.  Don’t wait!
