MISSION STATEMENT

Bringing community partners together to better protect Clayton County by improving our ability to mitigate emergency situations. This will be accomplished through communication, training, and improving response procedures.

PUPROSE

The purpose of the LEPC is to develop and implement a comprehensive emergency management plan for the Clayton County, which includes preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. The LEPC shall also assist in the coordination of emergency management activities with local, state, and federal agencies, in compliance with the following federal and state legal requirements:

  • Federal: The LEPC shall comply with the requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986, as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) of 1988. This includes developing an emergency response plan, conducting hazardous materials inventory reporting, and facilitating public access to information about hazardous materials.
  • State: The LEPC shall comply with the requirements of the Georgia Emergency Management Act of 1981, as amended. This includes coordinating emergency planning and response activities with state agencies and local governments, maintaining a comprehensive emergency management plan, and conducting exercises and training to ensure readiness for emergencies.
