Office of Resilience and Sustainability Officially Recognized as a
Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador™
(Clayton County, GA) – The Clayton County Office of Resilience and Sustainability Emergency Management Division was recently accepted as a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador. The Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador™ is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to strengthen partnerships with external organizations toward building community resilience in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather and water events.
As weather disaster change agents in the community, the Clayton County Ambassadors have visited senior centers, businesses, schools, and libraries to demonstrate and train residents on various actions that can save lives anywhere – at home, in schools, and in the workplace before tornadoes, hurricanes, and other extreme types of weather strikes.
By receiving this recognition, Clayton County’s Emergency Management staff has demonstrated its continuous efforts to improve the county’s readiness against extreme weather, water, and other climate events. This exemplifies their willingness to partner with other nationally recognized Ambassadors to strengthen national resilience against extreme weather.
“I am proud of our team who worked so diligently to receive this national honor,” said Ryan Morrison, Chief Resilience Officer and Director of Emergency & Performance Management. “As a re-certified Storm Ready community, Clayton County’s Emergency Management staff is consistently training and working to empower our community to take actions that will prepare them in the event of a weather disaster. Receiving our Weather-Ready Nation recognition also helps to demonstrate and strengthen our commitment to a safer community on a national platform.”
