Clayton County to Celebrate Digital Inclusion Week 2023
(Clayton County, GA)–The Clayton County Office of Digital Equity celebrates Digital Inclusion Week October 2 – 7, 2023. Digital Inclusion Week is a nationwide week dedicated to increasing community engagement and awareness about digital equity and celebrating digital equity wins.
“Clayton County is one of the only municipalities in the state with a functioning digital equity office,” said Digital Equity Administrator Takiyah Thomas. “We are very proud to be a digital equity trailblazer.”
Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner says, “The Clayton County Board of Commissioners is fully committed to providing digital connectivity solutions and resources to help ensure our citizens not only have access to the Internet, but they also have access to opportunities to train and advance their skill sets.”
The Office of Digital Equity plans to host events such as technology workshops, digital skills training, a letter-writing campaign and a laptop giveaway. Participants can also sign-up for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a $30/month discount on home internet service for eligible households. To close out Digital Inclusion Week, the office will host a Youth Empowerment Summit on Saturday, October 7, 2023, to provide youth with information about digital/technology related careers, digital literacy, school supplies and laptops.
Registration is limited and required for all Digital Inclusion Week events. Access https://tinyurl.com/ClaytonDIW23 to register now.
“Digital equity is the cornerstone of a thriving county, ensuring that every resident has equal access to the opportunities and resources offered by the digital age, fostering inclusivity and prosperity for all,” said Interim Chief Information Officer Jaime Montalvo. “The Clayton County Office of Digital Equity is dedicated to empowering and supporting its citizens by bridging the digital divide and promoting equal access to digital resources and opportunities.”
