First Lieutenant Allan Vigil – Veteran of the Month

First Lieutenant Allan Vigil

M. Allan Vigil was born in Tampa, Florida.  He received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 1967.  

He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.  He was a First Lieutenant in the U S Army from 1967-1970. 

Mr. Vigil worked as a Sales Manager at two (2) Ford dealerships, from 1973-1982.  He was also a Field Manager at Ford Motor Company from 1971-1973.  He is currently the President, of Allan Vigil Ford Lincoln in Morrow, Georgia. 

His civic and professional involvement includes Chairman, Board of Regents – University System of Georgia 2006 – 2008; Board of Regents – University System of Georgia 2003 – 2010; Board Member, Southern Regional Health System 2003 – 2010; Board Member, Alliance of Ford Motor Minority Dealers; Board Member, State of Georgia’s Board of Motor Vehicle Safety 2001- 2003; Board of Trustees, Clayton State University Foundation 1983 – 2013; Chairman, Metro Atlanta Automobile Dealers Association 1989 – 1990, current Board Member; Chairman, Ford National Dealer Council, 1997, Board Member 1996 – 1997; Chairman, Georgia Automobile Dealers Association 1999 – 2000; President, Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, 1990, Board member 1987 – 1990; Ford/Atlanta Community Relations Committee, 1996 – 2008.  Mr. Vigil currently serves on the Ford Motor Company Product Advisory Committee since 2009 and is the Emeritus Trustee, of Clayton State University Foundation from 2013 to the present. 

Mr. Vigil’s civic and professional honors include: Recipient of Pillars of the Community Award 2014; Recipient of Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities -2013; Recipient of Honorary Doctorate of Public Service, Clayton State University – 2011; Recipient of Ford’s Salute to Dealers Award 2008; Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Lifetime Achievement Award 2008; Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Business of the Year 2003; Ford Motor Company’s Triple Crown Award 2001, 2002, 2003 2004; Multiple recipient, Ford Motor Company’s “One Hundred Club”; multiple recipient, Ford Motor Company’s “President’s Award”; multiple recipient, Ford Motor Credit Corporation’s “Partners in Quality” Award; Hispanic Business Inc. 2002 Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Retail & Finance Category; Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s, Businessman of the Year 2001; Finalist, Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2000 ; Recipient of the Electric Transportation Coalition’s National and Local EV Hero Award 1999; Georgia Finalist for the 1997 and 2009 Time Magazine’s Quality Dealer Award; Atlanta Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s, Hispanic Businessman of the Year 1996 and recipient of Good Housekeeping Magazine and Automotive News “Excellence in Service Award” in 1993. 

Mr. Vigil is married to Bonnie and they have 2 children: R. Dawn Vigil and Michael Allan Vigil.  They have 3 grandchildren.
