Trail Ambassador Program Kick-off
Date: Saturday, June 5, 2021
Time: 11 am
Location: Lake Spivey Recreation Center
2300 Walt Stevens Road, Jonesboro, Georgia
Participants will sign-up on June 5th and will receive all the program information.
The newly created Trail Ambassador program is designed to utilize volunteers to keep watch on the Clayton Connect Trails. A Trail Ambassador is a committed volunteer that walks, bikes, or runs at the multi-use trails operated by Clayton County Parks and Recreation better know as the “Clayton Connects” Trail System. Their function is to provide assistance to trail users and work with CCPR to keep an eye on the trail conditions and for possible hazards. Trail ambassadors must be age 18 or over and be willing to commit to at least 8 hours per month.
Trail Ambassadors are volunteers who provide a warm welcome to CCPR trail users and offer assistance as needed. They are the eyes and ears of the organization and will report any condition they consider a problem to CCPR staff. Promoting trail courtesy, safety, and awareness in their interaction with individuals on the trail, trail ambassadors have the opportunity to educate the public about trail etiquette. However, the trail ambassadors are NOT expected to enforce rules but provide information in a friendly positive manner. Trail users are not always aware that what they are doing violates rules of trail etiquette.
Each Trail Ambassador will be provided a shirt and a backpack filled with maps, rules, and water bottle. The ambassadors will be asked to talk with trail users and from time to time track some basic user statistics. The days and times of the shifts are flexible so you can sign up for a time slot that works best for your schedule.
Prior to volunteering, we will provide you with training so that you are prepared to answer questions about the Clayton Connect Trails, contact 770-347-0390.
