Progress for Pennies Jail Security Project Complete

(Clayton County)- Clayton County has reached a major Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) milestone. The public safety project, the Jail Security Access Video Surveillance System, located in District 3 is complete.

The goal of this project was to plan, design and implement a comprehensive jail security/access control/video distribution system to include software, hardware, integration, and training. The security system was also updated with additional connectivity to the juvenile facility.

Clayton County’s Jail Security Access Video Surveillance System was a collaborative effort between the Clayton County Police Department and the Clayton County Sheriff Office. The total cost for this project was $2,035,900.00. The new system was designed and installed by Black Creek Integrated Systems.

“As a county, we are always looking for ways to improve operations and keep our community safe,” said Chief Operations Officer Detrick Stanford. “The conclusion of this project illustrates our commitment to public safety and further proves that safety is always a top priority.”

Since 2004, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners has used the one-cent SPLOST for countywide improvements. For more information about SPLOST and our Progress for Pennies Projects, access www.claytonsplost.com.
