LEGAL NOTICE: CALL OF SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE UNEXPRIED TERM OF COUNTY COMMISSION, DISTRICT 1
CALL DATE: JUNE 1, 2021
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF DISTRICT 1 CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA
Notice is hereby given that a Special Election shall be held on September 21, 2021, in the election precincts of County Commission District 1 of the County. A run-off, if needed, shall be held on October 19, 2021.
QUALIFYING: Qualifying for the special election shall be held at the Clayton County Board of
Elections and Registration Office, 121 South McDonough Street, Annex II, Main Floor Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. The qualifying fee shall be $1,068 and can be paid by Cashier’s Check or Money Order.
The dates and hours of qualifying shall be as follows:
Monday, July 19, 2021 – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, July 20, 2021 – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 21, 2021 – 9:00 a.m. – 12 Noon
VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, August 23, 2021, is the last day to register
to vote for all persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the Special Election.
VOTING: The several places for holding said special election shall be in the regular and
established election districts of the County, and the polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.on the date fixed for the election. The first day Mail Absentee Ballot Applications can be accepted is Monday, July 5, 2021. The last day Mail Absentee Ballot Applications can be accepted is Friday, September 10, 2021. Mail Absentee Voting will begin on Monday, August 23, 2021, and ends on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Absentee by Mail Drop Boxes will be open from Monday, August 30, 2021, to Friday, September 17, 2021, during the hours of In-Person Early Voting as established.
In-Person Early Voting will begin on Monday, August 30, 2021, and ends on Friday, September
17, 2021.
In-Person Early Voting will be held at Clayton County Board of Elections and Registration Office, 121 South McDonough Street, Annex II, Main Floor Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. Additional sites will be added to a future notice.
Those residents qualified to vote at said election shall be determined in all respects in accordance with election laws of the State of Georgia.
This notice is given pursuant to action of the Clayton County Board of Elections and Registration.
