Free Tax Assistance Helps Clayton County Residents Claim Their Full Refunds

Many taxpayers could overlook important tax benefits because they don’t know about them.  Don’t let this happen to you.  These credits can significantly increase the amount of your tax refund.  Clayton County Extension is raising awareness of these credits and offering free tax preparation to taxpayers in Clayton County this tax season.  Taxpayers who qualify will get free help determining their eligibility for and claiming the credits.

Would you like to avoid paying to have your taxes prepared and keep ALL OF your tax refund?  If so, we can help with the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, known as VITA.  VITA is a free program that allows you to get your taxes prepared and filed for free.  The program is coordinated locally by Clayton County Extension.  The Extension office has two IRS-certified specialists who have passed the annual exams to prepare tax returns.  All tax returns go through a quality review process before being submitted to the IRS.  VITA specialists prepare many types of tax returns, including those claiming the EITC and other credits.

To schedule your appointment or for more information on VITA Tax Preparation, call Clayton County Extension at 770-473-3945 or email us at ClaytonExtension@uga.edu.
