Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley is pleased to announce the conviction of Miles Johnson.

Press Release

March 10, 2022

Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley is pleased to announce the conviction of Miles Johnson. A Clayton County jury returned a guilty verdict on 1 count of aggravated assault, 1 count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and 1 count of terroristic threats.

At trial, the State showed that on September 4, 2019 in response to a verbal domestic dispute, Miles Johnson grabbed the victim, slapped her and strangled her. He also told the victim that he would kill her if she called the police. The victim’s audio recording of the incident captured him saying “press 9, I guarantee you I give you the head shot” and “If I’m going to be serving time, it will be for killing you”. The audio also captured the sound of the racking of a firearm and the sound of a gun being fired.

This case was prosecuted by the Assistant District Attorney Brianna Woods with Assistant District Attorney Nigel Hunter as second chair. Investigation was covered by Investigator Ken MacGillivary and victim support was provided by Victim Assistance Program Manager Kenya Shepherd. The trial began on March 7, 2022 and a verdict was returned on March 9, 2022.

Senior Judge Albert Collier presided over this case and promptly sentenced Johnson to 20 years to serve followed by 10 years of probation.

District Attorney Mosley stated, “Violence at the hands of a supposed loved one is never easy to deal with. My team did a great job of protecting the victim at a time when she was most vulnerable. My office will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of all Clayton County citizens.”
