NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The Clayton County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 5.13% percent for Clayton County M&O and 4.14% percent for Clayton County Unincorporated.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ Board Room, 112 Smith Street, Jonesboro, Georgia on July 16, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Clayton County Board of Commissioners’ Board Room, 112 Smith Street, Jonesboro, Georgia on August 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM and 6:00 p.m.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 15.858 mills for Clayton County M&O, an increase of .774 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 15.084 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $23.22 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $450,000 is approximately $139.32.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 5.0 mills for unincorporated Clayton County, an increase of .199 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 4.801 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $5.97 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $450,000 is approximately $35.82.
