Clayton County Senior Services Department to Host Annual Mayfest Event

(Clayton County, GA) — Clayton County Senior Services Department will host its annual Mayfest event in honor of Older American’s Month on May 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Gerald Matthews Complex, located at 1935 McDonough Road in Hampton. It is a free event for senior adults 55 and older; no children are allowed to attend the event.

“The purpose of Mayfest is to celebrate, honor, and show our deepest appreciation for seniors who are 55 and older,” Senior Services Director Tori Strawter-Tanks said. “Seniors should come to let their hair down, dance, party, and enjoy the well-thought-out activities our staff put together for their enjoyment.”

Mayfest is a health and fitness event designed to celebrate and promote wellness for Clayton County seniors. This year’s “Tailgate Mayfest: Age My Way” will feature performances by Howard Hewett and Klymaxx with Joyce Irby. Participants will enjoy live music, stage performances, and more from the comfort of their vehicles.

Face masks are required and, social distancing will be enforced. Mayfest souvenir shirts and face masks will also be available for purchase to wear to the event for eight dollars ($8).

Kaiser Permanente, JenCare Senior Medical Center, Anthem, Compassion and Choices, Humana, and Southern Regional Medical Center are sponsors.
