Clayton Residents to Receive Application Assistance Onsite for Emergency Rental Assistance
(Clayton County, GA) –Clayton County residents, impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19), can apply in-person for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funding for rent and utilities. Representatives from the Office of Performance Management in partnership with Georgia Micro Enterprise Network (GMEN) will help residents complete applications and upload the required documents onsite Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Spivey Recreation Center, 2300 Walt Stephens Rd., Jonesboro, GA 30236.
The Clayton County ERAP is funded by federal funds from the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act through the Clayton County Board of Commissioners.
“Our goal is to help our residents remain sheltered,” said Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner. “The COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and neither are the hardships many of our residents continue to endure as a result of it. We are grateful for our Clayton connected community, the resources and partnerships that allow us the ability to support our residents in their time of need.”
The Clayton County Board of Commissioners received $8.7 million (ERA-1), which was allocated to assist residents resulting in:
3,124 Families Assisted
Rental Assistance: $7,008,750.94
Utilities: $325,025.25
Extended Stay: $719,410.78
(10% Allocated to Administrative Functions)
“The Georgia Micro Enterprise Network, GMEN, is honored to the partner with Clayton County to administer their COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program”, said GMEN Executive Director Elizabeth Wilson. “Through this program we will be able to rapidly provide some level of relief to families with children, lower-income earning households and other vulnerable populations.”
Clayton County Magistrate Court, Georgia Power, Clayton County Water Authority, Clayton County Housing Authority, The Clayton Center, and Africa’s Children’s Fund will also be onsite to assist eligible residents.
ERAP payments are made directly to landlords for eligible Clayton County residents. Applicants who are not eligible for the program receive notifications that explain why they are disqualified.
