E-3 Lance Corporal Alvin V. Johnson
Pastor Alvin Johnson, a proud Marine Corps veteran and Founder/CEO of United Veterans Community Housing Services Coalition (UVCHSC) of Georgia, has dedicated his life to faith and service. A 1980 graduate of Randallstown High School in Maryland, Pastor Johnson enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1979 during his junior year. He served from 1980-1984 as an E-3 Lance Corporal and Base Communications Specialist, holding Top Secret NATO and Confidential clearances. His service included 2 ½ years at 29 Palms, California, and 1 ½ years at Headquarters Marine Corps and the Navy Pentagon, where he supported critical communications operations for military and government leadership.
Pastor Johnson’s military service marked a significant turning point in his life. In 1982, while stationed in the Marine Corps, he accepted Christ and was baptized, making faith and service central to his life’s mission.
With over 40 years of ministry experience, Pastor Johnson has served as a Deacon, Minister, Pastor, and Chaplain. He has helped establish several churches across Maryland and Georgia. Through UVCHSC, he provides housing, mentorship, and holistic support for veterans and underserved communities.
In addition to his leadership in ministry, Pastor Johnson has worked with organizations such as the Baltimore Mayor’s Office, the Police Athletic League, and Georgia’s foster care and prison systems, leading mentorship programs and reentry initiatives. He has also worked in various industries, including food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, and provided security for high-profile figures such as Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
Pastor Johnson’s dedication has earned him numerous awards, including honors from Maryland and Georgia state and local government, the American Legion, and civil rights organizations. He is a devoted husband and stepfather, serves as Chaplain for the American Legion, and is a proud member of the Tucker Lions Club. Guided by the principles of Isaiah 61, Pastor Alvin Johnson’s life reflects a legacy of hope, faith, and transformation.
