Clayton County Senior Services Earns Innovation Award
(Clayton County, GA) – The Clayton County Senior Services Department earns the Most Innovative Evidence Based Implementation Partner Award at the Evidence Based Aging Services Coalition (EBASC) Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the Atlanta Regional Commission.
“This award speaks to one of the tenants in our core values which is innovation,” said Tori Strawter-Tanks, Senior Services Director. “Our team never says no to an opportunity to try new programs and services, we are willing to blaze the trail to ensure our seniors have everything they need to live their best life and to age independently in their homes.”
The EBASC is a coalition comprised of 10 counties (Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Rockdale) in the metropolitan area. The main objective of the EBASC is to convene county-based stakeholders with a mutual desire to expand access of evidence based services to individuals across the ten counties. Evidence-based programs offer proven ways to promote health and prevent disease among older adults.
Clayton County Senior Services is the first department in Georgia to offer Vivo and Mind over Matter: Healthy Bowls, Healthy Bladder (MOM) evidence-based classes. VIVO Fitness is based on the Science of Strength Training and consists of small-group, interactive Zoom classes taught by live instructors. MOM is a researched and proven program designed to give women the tools they need to take control of bladder and bowel leakage.
