Clayton County Mourns the Loss of Retired Sergeant Major Eddie Turner
(Clayton County, GA)- The Clayton County Board of Commissioners mourns the loss of Retired Sergeant Major Eddie Turner, the father of the former Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner.
“We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Turner family during their time of bereavement,” said Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry. “Retired Sergeant Major Eddie Turner dedicated his life to service for our country and communities. We are forever grateful for his excellent service and notable contributions.”
“We are praying for strength and peace during this challenging time for the Turner family,” said Chief Operating Officer Detrick Stanford. “The life and legacy of Retired Sergeant Eddie Turner shall always be remembered as a direct reflection of his wisdom and inspiration as a God-loving servant who was passionate about his faith, family, community, and country.”
Retired Sergeant Major Eddie Turner enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 1, 1950. He faithfully served his country for 30 years until his retirement on September 1, 1980. Retired Sergeant Major Turner served in the Korean War from January 1950 until April 1952. He later served in the Vietnam War from January 1970 to 1971. Sergeant Major Turner was stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1959, 1961 to 1964, and 1971 to 1974.
