Clayton County Elections Director Serves as New President of GAVREO

(Clayton County, GA)-Clayton County Board of Registration and Elections Director Shauna Dozier is the new President of the Georgia Voter Registration and Elections Officials (GAVREO).  Dozier was sworn in at the recent GAVREO conference, which was held Feb. 12 – Feb.15, 2023, in Jekyll Island, Georgia.  On Wed., Feb. 15, the Secretary of State’s Elections Director, Blake Evans, administered the oath of office to Dozier in front of the 650 GAVREO membership body.  It is the first time a member of Clayton County has held the executive position in the history of the county and the prestigious organization.

“It is an honor to be elected as President of GAVREO,” said Elections and Registration Director Shauna Dozier in her first address to the GAVREO membership body. “I look forward to serving the great state of Georgia.”

Dozier’s goal is to maintain the mantra of GAVREO:  Integrity, Transparency and Trust.   She has served in various positions within GAVREO including, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary as well as an array of committees.

Dozier earned a Political Science Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.  She brings 20 years of elections/voter registration experience to the position serving as the Election Director in Clayton County, Registration Chief in Fulton County, Assistant Supervisor of Elections in Rockdale County as well as the Voter Education Coordinator for the Georgia Secretary of State Elections Division.

Additionally, she serves as an international elections observer and was awarded the Democracy Action Hero Award by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for her work during the 2020 Presidential Election Year.  Dozier is a national certified elections administrator.  She received her Certified Election/Registration Administrator Certification (CERA) from the Election Center/Auburn University in 2016, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Election Center.
