Clayton County Day at the Capitol Draws
Leaders and Community Advocates
(Atlanta, GA)—Clayton County Day at the Capitol was a tremendous success, bringing together community leaders, elected officials, and residents to advocate for the county’s progress and priorities. The event, held under the Gold Dome, was hosted by Representative Yasmin Neal, Chair of the House Clayton County Delegation, and Representative Eric Bell. The visionary initiative was spearheaded by Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson Henry and her legislative team, who has been a driving force behind efforts to strengthen Clayton County’s presence and influence at the state level.
Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson Henry was joined by Clayton County Board of Commissioners Vice Chairwoman Alaina Reeves and Commissioner Gail Hambrick. The delegation from Clayton County included State Senators Gail Davenport and Kenya Wicks, along with State Representatives Yasmin Neal, Eric Bell, Robert Flournoy, and Sandra Scott.
Other countywide officials, including Tax Commissioner Danielle H. Smith and Solicitor General Charles Brooks, also attended. Smith and Brooks actively participated to showcase their offices and the services they provide citizens.
“This event was an incredible opportunity to advocate for the needs of Clayton County and ensure our voices are heard at the state level,” said Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson Henry. “I am immensely proud of everyone who contributed to making this day such a success.”
The event provided an important platform for dialogue between state and local leaders, highlighting priorities for economic development, education, infrastructure, and public safety.
Participating cities included Lovejoy, Jonesboro, and Forest Park, while other cities expressed their regards and enthusiasm for participating in the event in 2026. Various departments also provided information about their services and contributions to the county’s growth and well-being.
