Flint River Community Center First Anniversary Bash

(Clayton County, GA)–The Flint River Community Center First Anniversary Bash is Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. at 153 Flint River Road, Riverdale, GA, 30274. Participants of Clayton County Senior Services, Parks and Recreation, Boys and Girls Club, county leaders and residents plan to celebrate the one-year anniversary as well as digital literacy and academic achievement.
“We are grateful to commemorate the first anniversary of the Flint River Community Center, featuring our county’s first intergenerational center in partnership with our Senior Services Department, Parks and Recreation Department, and the Boys and Girls Club,” says Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey E. Turner. “Students and their families have been provided much-needed connectivity at a critical time in our county and our country.”

Participants can also expect live entertainment, prizes, refreshments, and special guests.

A Lift Zone ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Lift zones provide internet connectivity, which allows students online access to participate in distance learning, complete homework, and research. Adults also benefit with connections to online education, job searches, healthcare information, and public assistance.

“We sincerely appreciate the work Comcast has done at Flint River Community Center,” said Clayton County Senior Services Director Tori Strawter-Tanks.

“Digital literacy and internet access are a necessity for our community,” said Commissioner Felicia Franklin. “We are excited to celebrate the Flint River Community Center and its Lift Zone, and we thank Comcast for their efforts to advance digital equity.”

“We are thrilled to celebrate our partnership with the Flint River Community Center and Clayton County,” said Jason Gumbs, Regional Senior Vice President at Comcast. “Comcast has worked hard to address internet connectivity challenges brought on by the pandemic. It’s an honor to celebrate the center’s one-year anniversary of helping Riverdale residents get connected.”

The Flint River Community Center also features the county’s first Black Box Theater!
