Construction Engineering

Construction Engineering is a section within our Public Works Division that monitors, inspects and audits Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), County and City Construction as well as Bridge Maintenance, State funded design projects, coordinating and maintaining the Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) for Clayton County.

The Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) program has been developed through GDOT in cooperation with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and other affiliates. GDOT remains committed to helping local governments achieve needed improvements to the State’s roadway network. The new LMIG program is designed to allow local governments greater flexibility and quicker project delivery while allowing GDOT to effectively administer the program with a reduced workforce and new funding match requirements.
