Getting Started with the Training Program

Registration

To get the full benefit from our training, participates must register for the classes that are specially designed for their employee classification. We are available to answer questions concerning training dates, classes, and provide and/or forward training registration forms from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

County employees wishing to register for training classes should contact their immediate supervisor before signing up. Outside agencies wishing to register employees should contact the Human Resources Officer at (770) 473-5787.

Cancellations

To maximize training opportunities for employees who may be on a waiting list, we request cancellation notice as soon as possible for those employees who will not be able to attend.

Training

Our training begins promptly as scheduled.  Most classes are 2 ½ to 3 hours long, and out of respect for our employees’ time, we strive to end on time. Our training approach is collaborative.  We recognize the personal and professional experiences our employees have, and we encourage participation.  Additionally, Human Resources provides training upon request by Executive Leadership for his/her department.  We also conduct needs analysis to develop specific courses as requested by Executive Leadership for his/her department.

Locations

Most of our training is conducted at the Human Resources Training Center. However, training is also held on site at the requesting department’s request, as well as other County facilities.

New Employee Orientation

Human Resources believes that New Employee Orientation is an excellent opportunity for new employees to establish comradery and support among each other.  New Employee Orientation provides Human Resources the opportunity to welcome our newest family members and provide advice and guidance to set the stage for an outstanding employer/employee relationship that will last through retirement and beyond.
