Judge Candace Alynn Hill Duvernay

Candace Alynn Hill Duvernay has been a resident of Clayton County for over thirty years.  She has served on the Magistrate Court bench since February of 2019.  Judge Duvernay graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Sociology.  She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law.  While in law school, she focused her second and third years of study on Trial Practice and Criminal Defense- volunteering for the local Public Defender’s Office. For the past eleven years she has served as the Managing Partner of Hill Duvernay and Associates, LLC, a Litigation Firm focusing on Personal Injury, Family Law, and Criminal Defense.  She is proud of her reputation as an Attorney who is not afraid to go to trial, but who also possesses the finesse and wisdom to negotiate and settle disputes. Judge Duvernay leads a team of dynamic women attorneys who handle cases throughout the Metropolitan Atlanta Area.

Additionally, Judge Duvernay is a State Registered Mediator and Arbitrator, assisting parties with resolving their cases through the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution.  Once a quarter, Judge Duvernay trains individuals seeking to become State Registered General Civil Litigation Mediators.

Judge Duvernay has a heart for service and a passion for the community.  She has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated for over fifteen years and she serves her church working both in the choir ministry and serving as an usher.

In her spare time, she gives back to the community by volunteer coaching her high school alma mater’s mock trial team- right here in Clayton County. Her greatest joy, however, is being a wife to DeShaun and a mother to their two children.
