Judge Daniel J. Nagel

Attorney (Hon.) Daniel J. Nagel’s career is dedicated to standing up for those who need help the most in the judicial system.

Daniel graduated in the top of his class from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School where he served as an editor for the Law Review.  While in school Daniel interned for a Superior Court Judge as well as the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office.  After graduation, Daniel worked for the largest criminal defense firm in Georgia where he represented indigent clients.  Here, Daniel used his experience as a prosecutor to gather evidence and use the rule of law to assist his clients.  In addition, Daniel gained valuable courtroom experience arguing motions and conducting jury trials.

Daniel then went back to his home of Clayton County where he worked as an Assistant District Attorney.  Here, Daniel assisted in ensuring justice for victims and their families.  During this time, Daniel conducted and participated in jury trials ranging from murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and trafficking of cocaine.  During his tenure as an Assistant District Attorney he was the only trial-line ADA to write his own appellate briefs.  This lead to Daniel arguing before the Georgia Court of Appeals on a 4th Amendment issue against one of the state’s top criminal defense attorneys.  It is of note, that all appeals he wrote were affirmed by the higher courts in Georgia.

After practicing for nearly five years in the criminal field, Daniel began practicing personal injury law with a small firm in Norcross, Georgia.  Here, he used his experience in representing those who needed help the most to assist injured Georgians.  During his tenure Daniel litigated more than 200 cases and recovered more than $5million dollars for his clients.

In 2018, Daniel took advantage of an opportunity to join a growing injury firm in Buckhead, Georgia.  There, he assisted in growing the personal injury department from 12 people to over 60.  In 2019, Daniel recovered more than $6million dollars for his clients setting a firm record.  As a result, Daniel became the Managing Attorney overseeing both the personal injury and worker’s compensation departments.  Under his leadership, the firm grew exponentially.  The firm was able to hire more than 3x the number of lawyers they had when he first began.  In addition, Daniel was instrumental in working with attorneys to maximize case values for clients.

In December of 2021, Daniel made the move to work with Alexander Shunnarah Injury Lawyers because he believes in his ability to maximize recover for clients – both physically and economically.   The opportunity to work with the brightest attorneys and staff in the industry was too good to pass up.  Therefore, Daniel left his management job to once again work directly with clients who’ve been injured.

Daniel is a life-long resident of Clayton County and currently serves as the Immediate Past-President of the Clayton County Bar Association.  In addition, Daniel also serves the citizens of his hometown by sitting as a Magistrate Court judge.
