The purpose of this division is to address complaints of zoning code violations, conduct inspections, identify violations, and initiate action against violators. Code enforcement officers also identify violations along major commercial corridors including sign ordinance, outside storage, fence and other frequently found violations. The goal of this division is to work to preserve property values and ensure safe, sanitary, and reasonable conditions per established codes and ordinances.

Common Violations

  1. Prohibited, Dilapidated, or Non-Conforming Signage
  2. Outdoor Storage Not Permitted
  3. Accessory Use / Structure Not Permitted
  4. Operating A Business Without A License
  5. Trash, Rubbish, and Debris Accumulated on Property

Penalties

The goal of the Zoning Code Enforcement division is to obtain voluntary compliance. In cases where compliance is not obtained, the Code Enforcement Officer has the authority to issue a Notice of Violation or Citation. Penalties can include, but are not limited to fines and/or required court appearance in front of the Code Enforcement Board or Magistrate Court.
