The Office of Planning, Zoning, and Sustainability guides land development, supports quality economic development, and promotes sustainable communities. We aim to deliver sound planning services that are geared to support the Clayton County “Strategic Operational Plan” founded upon satisfying our Six Pillar Policy Framework, which consists of Growth Management, Economic Opportunity, Communication & Image, Fiscal Responsibility, Quality of Life, and Governance.
We commit that our service is consistent with the highest public standards for health, safety, livability, sustainability, and general welfare of the Clayton County community.
The Office of Planning, Zoning and Sustainability implements the following County Ordinances:
- Zoning Ordinance
- Subdivision Ordinance
- Tree Protection Ordinance
- Comprehensive Plan
- Sub Area Plans
- Design Guidelines
- Sign Ordinance
In addition, the Office of Planning, Zoning and Sustainability also processes applications for all land-use plan amendments, rezoning, variances, special permits, appeal and other requests that are required under the Zoning Ordinance.
The Board of Commissioners adopted the present Zoning Schedule to accommodate additional review requirements under the Clayton County Zoning Ordinance. The Technical Review Committee (TRC) processes all zoning, plat and plan applications.
