PUBLIC NOTICE

Clayton County Community Development Department is having a system update. Online services will remain available during this time.

The update will require users to reestablish their account in the system. The update will also include fee changes from 2.5% to 3.95% with a $6.95 minimum fee for credit cards and $1.95 for e-checks, effective October 2, 2023.

Starting February 1, 2022, Clayton County Community Development will no longer accept cash as a payment option. We will continue to accept Money Orders, Check, and Debit/Credit cards. (Except Discover & American Express)

Due to the recent health crisis of COVID-19, Zoning Matters will be conducted via in-person public hearings as in prior format.  Measures will be in place for social distancing.  The public is also invited to view the Board of Commissioners Meetings via live stream on the Clayton County website (www.claytoncountyga.gov).

Mission and Vision

The Community Development Department’s mission is to promote citizen participation to attain the highest quality of life; improve and sustain the quality of the built environment that attracts business investments in the county and enforce County codes to promote the health, safety and welfare of citizens of Clayton County.

Community Development Department is a premier department; responsible for interpreting and implementing ordinances/codes that shape Clayton County’s built environment. By the nature of our responsibilities, we enforce regulations that promote economic development; regulate licensure for businesses; administer housing and urban development grants; spatially manage the county’s land resources and enforce building codes to protect the life, safety and welfare of Clayton County citizens and patrons within the context of the overall County vision.
