Clayton County Landfill

The Clayton County Landfill accepts and disposes of waste from Clayton County and surrounding areaS according to E.P.D. Standards. The Landfill is also responsible for funding and operating the Clayton County Recycling Drop Off Center located at 1430 Hwy 138, Jonesboro, Georgia and the Processing Center located at 11650 SLR Blvd., Lovejoy, Georgia. 

Effective May 1, 2006, the landfill rates are as follows:

is $40 per ton.  $20 minimum for the first 1000lbs.

Scale Rate applies to vehicles larger than a pick-up truck.
ALL trailers must be weiged on the scale.

For pick-up trucks and smaller vehicles:

Clayton County Residents - $15 per load

Non-County Residents - $20 per load

We DO accept tires in limited quantities on or off the rim.  Tires up to 16" are $2 each in addition to dumping fee.  Larger tires on or off rim are required to pay a higher fee according to the size.

We CAN NOT accept liquids or hazardous material as a Subtitle D Landfill.

NO asbestos materials are accepted.  

We CAN accept paint cans if the cans are empty or the paint is dried up.  No Paint can be accepted in liquid form. 

All household waste, household furnishings, appliances and commercial waste ARE accepted.

We DO accept all yard waste including stumps and tree limbs. Leaves do not have to be bagged.

If you should need assistance, county inmates are usually on site to assist you.

All trash will need to be separated when you arrive.

The following items ARE accepted at the Recycling Drop Off Center in Jonesboro.

  • recyclingGlass (clear, brown and green only);
  • Plastic (#1 and #2 only);
  • Cardboard;
  • Aluminum Cans (no steel cans);
  • Newspaper Magazines;
  • Phone Books

We have wood chips that are available at no charge; however you must load your own.

The Center CANNOT accept the following items:

Household Trash, Egg Cartons, Mirrors, Light Bulbs, Window Glass, Drinking Glass, Ceramics, Heat Resistant Ovenware, Crystal, Plastic Bags, or Paper Bags.
