Comprehensive Planning

The Clayton County Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Board of Commissioners in October 2014.

The purpose of the Clayton County Comprehensive Plan is to identify the vision for Clayton County, and to set forth a clear implementation plan to realize that vision. The Comprehensive Plan is a fact-based resource that helps local constituents track the implementation of community-based policies, and creates an environment of predictability in terms of development and land use.

The Comprehensive Plan is a policy growth management blue print for the County. It will have a major impact on the future of the County by managing new developments and redevelopments within the county for the next twenty years. The goal of the comprehensive planning process is to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Clayton County; support a vibrant community where individuals can live, work, and play; promote economic development.

The Office of Planning, Zoning, and Sustainability is charged with implementation of the Clayton County Comprehensive Plan.
