Public Notice

The Board of Commissioners of Clayton County, Georgia, is commanded by the official Code of Georgia, Section 21-2-131(1)(A) to establish official qualifying fees for each county office to be filled in each election in Clayton County.

The following qualifying fees have been fixed and shall apply to the county offices to be filled during the General Primary and General Elections to be held in Clayton County in 2012:

Probate Court Judges $2,750.48
Magistrate Court $2,750.48
Solicitor General $3,212.77
Tax Commissioner $2,750.48
Sheriff $2,842.77
Clerk of superior Court $2,750.48
County Commission Chairman $3,607.57
County Commissioners $   577.21
School Board Members $   340.00
Surveyor $    35.00

 

Qualifying will begin May 23, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and will commence May 25, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. All partisan candidates will qualify at a location and time established by the respective political parties. All non partisan candidates will qualify at the Elections and Registration Office. Time and dates will be posted.

 

Notice to the Public

A Special Election will be held February 7, 2012 to fill the unexpired term of State Representative Gloria Bromell Tinubu, House District 60. The deadline date to register for this election is January 9, 2012. Only voters who are registered in the following precincts will be eligible to vote in this election:

Forest Park 1
Forest Park 2
Morrow 1

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Voters may vote in person or request an absentee ballot from the county election's office through the close of business on Friday, February 3. Absentee ballots must be returned to the office by the close of polls on Election Day. Photo identification is not required when voting by mail. Saturday voting for this election will be held January 28 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Elections and Registration Office. Advance voting for this election will begin Monday, January 30th and will conclude on Friday, February 3rd. Voting will occur between 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Elections and Registration's office.

Remember, if you are not a registered voter in one of the above precincts, you are not eligible to vote in this election.

NOTICE TO VOTERS ON ABSENTEE AND EARLY VOTING
March 6, 2012 Presidential Preference Primary

Any voter who was eligible to vote in the March 6, 2012 Presidential Preference is also eligible to vote in the April 3, 2012 Runoff. Election (if applicable).  Absentee and early voting will be held in the  Elections and Registration Office at 121 S. McDonough Street, Jonesboro, starting on February 13, 2012. Voting will take place during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. To vote in person, one of the six required photo identifications must be presented at the time of voting.  Saturday voting will take place on February 25, 2012, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Location(s) for Saturday voting will be announced.

Voters may also request an absentee ballot by mail.  The request may be made by submitting an absentee ballot application to the Elections and Registration office, by mail or facsimile.  Photo identification is not required when requesting a ballot by mail.  Voters are also encouraged to take advantage of voting during the week of advance voting, February 27, 2012 through March 2, 2012, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. (the week before each election, except runoffs and special elections) at one of our six (6) advance voting sites.  Remember, there is no voting the Monday before the election.  All absentee, early and advance voting ends the Friday before the election.  For additional information, please visit the Advance Voting Page.
