On March 17, 2009, the Board of Commissioners created the
Corrections Department by combining Clayton County Prison, Refuse
Control and the Transportation & Development Grass-cutting
Section placing all under the leadership and management of Warden
Frank Taylor Smith.
Refuse Control Division's mission is the cleaning of county
buildings, the removal of litter from grounds and roads, graffiti
removal, force clean abatement, and grass cutting using inmate
labor and court ordered community service workers.
Residents living in the unincorporated areas of Clayton County
can contact Refuse Control to have debris removed for a minimum of
$20.00 with increments of $20.00 depending on the amount of debris
and/or size of debris. Yard debris, furniture, appliances, limbs
(up to 6" in diameter and no longer than 10 ft.), bags of leaves,
and miscellaneous items can be picked up. Old paint cans will
only be accepted if they are empty or the paint has been solidified
with cat litter with no lid attached. The following items cannot be
picked up: tree trunks, batteries, shingles, bricks, dirt,
concrete, oil, any heavy metal or hazardous items.
Residents living within the City limits, please contact your City
Hall for debris removal.

Debris must be at the street by the curb. An
inspector will assess the cost. Pick up of debris will be
within 1-3 working days after receipt of payment. Payment can
be made to the inspector by check. You can call the office and pay
by credit card. You can mail a check or money order.
You can also come into the office and pay by cash, check, money
order, or credit card.
