May 8, 2013 - Georgia Public Health Association Honors Clayton with Al Dohany Award
Jonesboro – The Clayton County Archway Partnership was honored Tuesday with the Georgia Public Health Association’s (GPHA’s) highest award for health-related community service. The Al Dohany Award for Community Service was given to the Archway Partnership for helping designate Clayton County as a federal Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and for establishing a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in September of last year.

April 9, 2013 - Clayton County Access Television Channel 23 Receives a Facelift
Jonesboro, Georgia - Clayton County Access Television, now known as CCTV-23, has received the ultimate make-over. Channel 23 (Comcast) is a service provided by the Clayton County Board of Commissioners to inform citizens about services that are available in Clayton County by spotlighting agencies and departments that govern the county. The access channel focuses on events and activities going on in and around the county that are of interest to our citizens as well as improving emergency communications in the event of a disaster or widespread service disruption.

March 30, 2013 - South Clayton Recreation Center GRAND OPENING
Jonesboro, Georgia - A ribbon cutting ceremony for a new 60,000 square foot community center will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10:00am at the South Clayton Recreation Center located at 1837 McDonough Road in Hampton, Georgia 30228. There will be a pregrand opening the week of March 25, 2013 from 9:00am until 6:00pm daily for the community to tour the facility and register for classes and programs.

Jonesboro, Georgia - Clayton County Board of Commissioners announce the launch of two new social media profiles, offering their citizens and other online users even more choice about how to stay connected. In a bid to attract a wider demographic and increase their brand profile online, Clayton County has recently launched Twitter and Facebook. It is hoped that the social media accounts will provide the county with new ways to connect with the community and help them to provide a more friendly and efficient service.

March 1, 2013 - An Active Shooters Workplace Training is Implemented by Clayton County Board of Commissioners in Collaboration with the Clayton County Police Department
Jonesboro, Georgia - On Friday, March 1, 2013 at 9:00 am, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners with the assistance of the Clayton County Police Department will implement the first rapid response-active shooter training for all departments of the Clayton County Government. The training class will take place at 112 Smith Street in Jonesboro and will prepare all county departments to be aware of any possible dangers in their environment. A live active shooter demonstration will follow at 11:00 am.
