The Solicitor General's Office has compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions.

  1. What type of cases does the Solicitor General's Office handle?
    A: We prosecute misdemeanor and county ordinance cases.
  2. Can the Solicitor's Office represent defendants?
    A: We represent the State of Georgia in criminal cases.
  3. What is the difference between the District Attorney's Office and the Solicitor General?
    A: The District Attorney prosecutes felonies and misdemeanors and the Solicitor's Office misdemeanors only.
  4. If I don't show up for court what will happen?
    A: A warrant will be issued for your arrest for failing to appear for the hearing.
  5. How do I drop a case?
    A: Once a case is received in the office and individual can not drop the matter. Only the prosecutor may chose not to proceed with the matter.
