The Trial Division prosecutes felony and misdemeanor crimes.
Felony prosecutions involve crimes that represent the greatest
threat to the safety of the community and that can be punishable by
state prison of more than one year. Misdemeanor prosecutions
involve less serioius crimes and have a maximum sentence of 12
months in the county jail or $1,000 fine. This division is composed
of seventeen attorneys. Eight (8) attorneys are assigned in pairs
to each of the four Superior Court judges. The other nine (9)
attorneys have particular specializations and prosecute certain
designated felonies and cases.
