Clayton County Housing Fair to Be Held at Starr Park

Date: Saturday, June 04, 2011

Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location: 803 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, GA

Jonesboro - Clayton County's Office of Neighborhood Stabilization is continuing with its aggressive housing revitalization initiative targeting potential homebuyers despite the current distressed housing market across the country and in the county. On Saturday, June 4, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. a County Housing Fair will take place at Starr Park located on 803 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, GA.

The Office of Neighborhood Stabilization has been quite successful in its efforts to place families in Clayton County homes, and as a result of their national recognized program, HUD has provided the county's Neighborhood Stabilization Program with additional funds to continue with its home placement initiative. Partnering with several local organizations including, Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity, the Metro South Association of Realtors, and The Empire Board of Realtists, the Office of Neighborhood Stabilization will host a fair with a little something for everyone.

The Housing Fair will provide those interested in purchasing a home in Clayton County with an opportunity to receive an update on HUD foreclosed houses along with information on special NSP homes and non-NSP homes. Additionally, there will be information available regarding down payment assistance for Clayton County properties. Mortgage lenders will be on-site to discuss special loan programs that are available for the purchase of homes in Clayton County, and real estate agents will have information on the best housing buys in metro Atlanta. Home Depot and Lowes will also be on hand to offer home repair and improvement tips that will range from creating a colorful, sustainable garden to how to repair sheetrock. In addition to the recreational activities already available at Starr Park there will be plenty of special events for children. Habitat for Humanity will even construct a "mini house" on-site that will be donated to a local area children's special needs program upon its completion.
