History

The Clayton County International Park was constructed 15 years ago. Originally known as the Clayton County Beach, it was built for the 1996 Summer Olympics, and specifically for the beach volleyball events. Today, it is the largest, most popular and only county owned water park in Clayton County. It still boasts a man-made beach (with sand), kiddie pool, lake, weight rooms, pavilions, amphitheater, event center, basketball courts, tennis courts, miniature golf course, and lots of parking. The park is the headquarters for the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department.
